For $3k! I wouldn't even car about resale, tuning costs, insurance, or maintenance. I would DD the shit out of it until it dissolves in a cloud of rust

And box flares. They make a great combination.

Totally. I handn't noticed them before because of the flat paint, but I see them now. Awesomesauce.

I'd be worried about the parts. My guess is the guy literally dropped the v8 in, added the flares and wheels, did some minor interior work, and called it quits, leaving most of the stock (and probably mostly original) pieces underneath. I'd expect various things to break upon enough hard acceleration.

You can almost see how bad it would smell. Yet it's totally worth it

GIMME.

I want this thing so bad. That flare/wheel/tire combo is stacks of awesome. V8, decent interior work, end of the world shell. E gads!

I showed this to my dad, he goes "There is something wrong with you, my friend." I told him, "I'm going to put it on Oppo where people can appreciate my taste." And here we are. I will once again state that us opponauts are a special breed

Based on my parents' non-gearheadery, I've often wondered if I was adopted. My current ride guzzles gas, breaks often, is never perfect, and chews through my bank account like nobody's business - and I love every square inch of it. My brother in law keeps saying I should sell it and lease 'something'. I'd probably end up spending less per year. I respond colorfully.

He doesn't get it. Everyone here would...

What do you drive?

My parents are better...My dad's had some maseratis, a Black and Gold Trans Am, 3 lotus elises, an e30 m3, and probably a hundred more cars. My mom has had an rx7 GSL and a Saab 9000 Aero. They just don't get the engine swap fun like we all do

That's not bad. My dad loved cars, taught me to drive when I was seven years old. (yes.) and took me to Skip Barber for my 17th birthday. But for some reason, he's a real calvinist and never let himself have fun with cars. It's wasting money to him. We never had anything fancy, but we did have some nice metal. Most specifically - a ton of audis (including 3 A8's, my favorite being the 91 A8 when new) and a bargain basement E39 528i slush box which was still one of the best handling cars I've ever driven. So much fun to cane that thing. I grew up in bedford, NY which has some AMAZING rural roads. Nice and curvy.

I currently drive a 2002 allroad with a 6 speed and 130K on the clock and the original turbos. Got it in 05 with 40K, landed on audiworld, then quattroworld, and started the modding. All my mods have been based around handling, shifting, and braking. Haven't touched the motor... yet. The thing handles well and is very tactile for being a soft road wagon. It'll eat up a thousand mile day loaded with stuff and my dog, pound everyone at high altitude, is actually decent in the canyons, and it'll scale up an unmaintained fire road for giggles. That air suspension is the best and worst thing about the car - but I'm still running it because there's nothing like it on level four in a foot and a half of fresh snow.

That being said, when things fail on that car, it's expensive. Never left me stranded, however and the motor's been flawless (after I replaced a head under warranty, lulz)

How about you?
